Karen
Ramsay
Ms. Ramsay's devotion to plein air
painting began at the age of eight. Growing up in Colorado and making frequent
visits to rural Montana inspired her love of nature and appreciation for painting
on location. Her skilled renditions of scenes from the sporting life as well as of her favorite haunts in Yellowstone and the Colorado Rockies have become highly sought after.
A graduate of the Colorado Instutute of Art, Ms. Ramsay takes weekly painting trips into Rocky
Mountain National Park and to study at the Loveland Academy of Fine Art, where
she explores portraiture and life drawing. She has studied with notable painters Charles Reid,
Burton Silverman, and Eric Weingardt. In June of 2000, she won a Best of Show
award at Chaparral's Masters in Montana invitional, and her work was featured in
a two person show at Chaparral in November of 2000.
